Cymbidium, also known as Tiger Head Orchid / East-Asian Orchid, is a species of Orchids. Cymbidium has many flowers on one single erect stem, the inflorescences grow from bottom to top, the flowers are large with thick and fleshy texture.
Cymbidium, which means “boat” in Greek, or because its lips are arched like a boat. Cymbidium is also known as “Tiger Head Orchid”, perhaps because the lip of the Cymbidium usually has tiger stripes. In addition, because Cymbidium is native to Japan, it is also known as the East-Asian Orchid.
The flower color of Cymbidium can be said to be changeable among the genus Cymbidium. Generally, the flower color is pink/ green/ white, and occasionally orange/ brown or dyed color. The flowers of Cymbidium are in clusters, and one can have 10-30 flower head, the verwing picture is very rich and shocking, it is an Orchid with high ornamental value. Cymbidium also has mini species, which will feel lighter, elegant and bright.
When purchasing, most of the cut-flower Cymbidium are in full bloom. Do not think that the full blooming Cymbidium has a short viewing period, which is their normal state. Moreover, the viewing period of Cymbidium in the full bloom state is longer than that of ordinary cut flowers, which can be 10 days or more. Cymbidium is very clean, during maintenance, it will be found that even if the water is not changed for a long time, the water in the vase is still clear as before.
