Introduction of Cotton
Cotton,”棉花” in Chinese, is a plant belonging to the genus Gossypium in the mallow family. Cotton is not actually the cotton flower itself; in floral design, when we refer to cotton, we usually mean the cotton branch after the cotton has bloomed and produced fruit.
Characteristics of Cotton
The white cotton balls we see are actually seed fibers that wrap around the cotton seeds. These fibers are an important raw material for making fabric and clothing, holding significant economic value.
The early Korean drama “Goblin” made cotton bouquets a highly popular trend for a time, giving off a vibe full of artistic and literary charm.
Cotton branches maintain their dried flower state and do not require watering, allowing them to be preserved for a long time.
Additionally, because of their dried flower characteristics, cotton is often used in Christmas floral arrangements.
