Introduction of Anemone

Anemone, “銀蓮花” in Chinese, also known as white-headed old man or autumn peony, is commonly referred to locally by the more familiar variety called “Monalisa”.

Colors and Characteristics of Anemone

The Monalisa variety is covered in fine hairs, has a relatively short vase life of less than a week, and the entire flower lacks petals; what you see are actually sepals. The flower colors are mainly red, purple, pink, and white, with the center of the flower typically black or yellow.

When you see Monalisa in its fruiting stage, you can understand why it is called the white-headed old man.

Additionally, the word “Anemone” means “wind” in Greek, so Monalisa is also called the wind flower and is associated with many wind-related myths and stories worth paying attention to.
